Stortorget Malmö

The construction of Stortorget in Malmö began in 1538. This took place in connection with the demolition of the Holy Monastery, which with its cemetery occupied about 70 percent of the future area of Stortorget.

The stately town hall, which at the time was the largest of its kind in the Nordic countries, is located on the eastern side of the square. It was commissioned in 1547.
